Areas of activity of the Board of Governors
Pursuant to section B of the Constitution of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Board of Governors performs supervisory and advisory functions. It is responsible for:
- Determining the budget
- Advising on medium-term construction and capital expenditure planning
- Enacting the structural development plan
- Establishing, modifying and dissolving faculties and central institutes
- Establishing and dissolving central units and establishing, extending or dissolving interdisciplinary centres
- Approving and appointing professors and establishing and cancelling study programmes if a member of the Board of Trustees objects to the respective resolution of the University Senate within two weeks of the receipt of the draft minutes
- Enacting fee regulations
- Making strategic proposals for university development
- Taking decisions pursuant to section 88a Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG)
- Taking decisions pursuant to section 4 (11) BerlHG
- Proposing appointments to the office of President and the office of Vice President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
On 30 January 2009, the Board of Trustees adopted new rules of procedure for its work.
